Visit to the Statehouse to accept our Farm to School Grant

Did you hear?
BPMS was awarded a Farm to School Grant
last night at

the Statehouse in Montpelier.
Shea Smith, Reuben and Emmitt Hayes, Alison, Sue G. and Sally rode down to accept the Grant on behalf of all students and staff at BPMS. We will use the funds to support enhancing the school gardens, a hydroponic lettuce endeavor and even a new cooler for our kitchen. Thank you Sue Giovanetti and Alison for taking the time to write this grant! Imagine adding to our already flourishing gardens... think SPRING on this freezing weekend!

Second graders reading penpal letters

Mrs. Bernier's second graders read letters from their pen pals in Miss Youngberg's class. Each letter shared important information about penpals: favorite color, age, interests, name of pets and so much more. Second graders are learning how to use the correct format for a friendly letter. They were thrilled to 'meet' their penpals reading the first letter back. Smiles and excitement filled the room as they read their letters.

Pennies for PIE

Families, students, teachers and friends of BPMS will be collecting pennies for PIE between now and the 100th day of school, which is Monday, February 9th.
So check your home for coins... even check the car floor,
bottom of your gym bag or purse, or the laundry room collection jar! Scour around for a few coins and send them in. The collection jar will be in the front hallway near the library entrance for the next three weeks.

What you can do to help:
1) Gather pennies
2) Bring to school and place in the jug
    in the front hall.
3) Any day between now and Monday 2/9/15.

Proceeds will be used to purchase books for classroom libraries and support clean water worldwide!

Thank you on behalf of PIE!

Interested in having your student ski at Cochran's on Tuesdays?

Skiing at Cochran’s?
Attention budding skiers!  BPMS has arranged a bus to transport BPMS students interested in participating in the Cochran’s ski area after-school ski and ride program.  The bus will leave BPMS, have a transfer at the Huntington Green and have students at Cochran’s by around 3:15.  Here are the details:
  • Students must register with Cochran’s directly.  Info is available at http://www.cochranskiarea.com/events-programs
  • The bus will provide one way transport only.  Parents are responsible for meeting students at Cochran’s, helping them get on the slopes, and taking them home.
  • The program will run on Tuesdays, starting on January 13th, and run 8-9 weeks depending on weather.
  • The bus service will be a couple of dollars/ student each week, depending on level of interest.
  • PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A SELF CONTAINED PROGRAM AND PARENTS MUST MEET STUDENTS AT COCHRAN’S TO ASSIST.
  • Space is limited!
